We began our adventure from Connecticut just after Hurricane Irene and then a freak snow storm that hit us on October 30th 2011. We had never gone though Hell's Gate and NYC so we hired Captain George to take us through. We really were skiddish about the City since 9/11. So we sold the car and rented the house.
Then we said good-bye to some of our friends.
And off we went. It was cold.
When we got to the City the next day it was a little bit warmer.
NYC.
And I know you all know who this is. We could not get too close. We had never been down the ICW and Captain George did not have any jobs lined up for a while we kept him on with us to South Carolina.
There were a lot of the same sights over and over on the ICW. I did find this different. Reminded me of Howard Johnson's with the bright orange roof.
A few trailer parks.
Somewhere in North Carolina Bill looked behind us and pointed to a funnel cloud forming. Lucky for us the storm was headed in the other direction.
The way some places stack the boats for storage I find scary. I am not sure if I would want my boat on the top or bottom if it came tumbling down. Most of the homes along the ICW have long docks from their home, though the marsh and then a square platform to party on. Many also have small lifts for their boats so the bottoms do not get all of the marsh debris on them.
Finally we made it to Charleston, South Carolina.
Patti and Bill :-)
