Errand Day

On the way out to run some errands we ran into Sam the Harbormaster here.  They are still looking into us staying another month.  They are booked solid on the 26th and 27th.  We forgot about the Memorial Day Holiday and made our decision too late. Sam seems like he would really like us to stay since we are quiet,  cause no trouble and don't mind being in between all of the tour boats.   Just have a few more days.  hhmmm.  So off we went to the all important errands.  First was the bank.  The quickest way was through the center green.  There was a puppy class going on.  Today's topic was socialisation with both animals and people.  Since the instructor found out we were not dog shy and even rescued dogs she asked us if we could do a few things.   The students were:

Gilly

Bill was to throw her a treat while her eyes were on Bill but not pick it up until her owner said to.  She did pretty well.  Then up was Phoebe.

She just had to sit while we were around.  She was pretty but very active.  It must have taken her 5 minutes to sit so I could get a shot.

Last was Murphy.

I just needed to go under with no food so he could smell my had.  He proceeded to try to give me his paw and then eat my camera.  Thank goodness he had a soft mouth.  I love puppies.  Attention span was zero but they are so cute.

Bill pointed out another well on the other side of the Green.  I think this is the oldest one that people were talking about.  It is filled with cement and dirt now so no one can fall in.

This is the plaque next to it.  It was so worn you could hardly see it with the naked eye. I wish they had preserved this better, but who knew it would be an interest to people later in years.

Just around the corner was this plant.  It was just a young palmetto tree about to begin blooming.  It looked more like a giant corn on the cob to me.

This tree must have started when there were strong winds in the area.  Just guessin'.

I love fountains.  This was near Flagler College.

Off to run the errands now.  To that machine at the bank that spews money sometimes.  Then the walk to the convenience store to the all important powerball ticket.  I would love a bigger boat.  But I think most of us liveaboards do.  Even though we sized down to move from a home to a boat it seems, just like a home you then start to acquire 'stuff'. UGH!!

On the way back we passed by the area that they are doing an archaeological dig in a lot on the corner of Cuna and Spanish streets. The college students had found the skeletal remains of a terrapin.  We were told earlier that some pieces of glass from the nearby tavern were found along with some teeth.  Probably from a brawl outside of the tavern.

Off to lunch at OC Whites. This place is so pretty.  We didn't sit outside as it was going to rain.  And it did.  It poured.

Even when it rains it is still fun to be here.  I spoke to Dave on the way back.  He is the manager.  Still no openings.

Patti and Bill  :-)
