Flowers, Statues & People

When not trying to be a tourist we just walk around, usually to St George Street and the area around it.  I  end up seeing things that we passed many many times but did not really stop to notice. Dave from Drift Away mentioned in his blog once to always bring your camera.  I am glad he said that because I wasn't going to bring it. I first noticed this old well in the middle of the square.

And the flowers around the front of the pavilion.

How could I have missed this stuff.  We pass it almost daily.  And right in the middle of St George Street I walk around plants and statues.

And there are many trees, but I never stopped to really look at the beautiful plants around them.

And all of the people we meet are so friendly.  We stopped in Mi Casa Cafe for Lunch.  Three ladies came in for a drink.  They were visiting for a day.  Three generations.  How cool is that.

It was going to rain so we stopped closer to home at the Trade Winds Tropical Lounge.  Who uses Lounge in their name anymore.  It is kinda dark.  Jimmy Buffet played there.  As most of you know Bill traveled a lot for work.  One place was Seattle.  This couple was from there.  There was a long conversation with these two about favorite places there.

On the way back I noticed these flowers in the shape of a cross.  The base was styrofoam.  I was wondering if it blew off from somewhere.

Well, it did rain some last night.  More rain in the forecast for today.  Not sure what is up or where we will go.

  1. Really nice blog, today. Short, succinct, lots of pics, yet still gives the flavor of what you did, who you spoke to and what a nice day you had.

If I could make one suggestion... In addition to the lovely well, it would be nice to see a close up of the plaque commemorating the reason for it being immortalized. (This from a guy who actually stops to read roadside historical markers...)

Thanks, Cheers and Keep up the good work!

  2. Always always always always always bring your camera, for two reasons. First, if you see something interesting or cool, you can photograph it. Second, when you have your camera you're looking for interesting and cool things to photograph. You become more observant.

I agree with Tim. Nice blog today.
